Lament: The Faerie Queen's Deception (Books of Faerie, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater
After finally reading Shiver, I am desperately craving more Stiefvater goodness! Oh, and if you haven't read Shiver yet - go NOW.
Sixteen-year-old Deirdre Monaghan is a painfully shy but prodigiously gifted musician. She's about to find out she's also a cloverhand - one who can see faeries. Deirdre finds herself infatuated with a mysterious boy who enters her ordinary suburban life, seemingly out of thin air. Trouble is, the enigmatic and gorgeous Luke turns out to be a gallowglass - a soulless faerie assassin.
An equally hunky - and equally dangerous - dark faerie soldier named Aodhan is also stalking Deirdre. Sworn enemies, Luke and Aodhan each have a deadly assignment from the Faerie Queen. Namely, kill Deirdre before her music captures the attention of the Fae and threatens the Queen's sovereignty.
Caught in the crossfire with Deirdre is James, her wisecracking but loyal best friend. Deirdre had been wishing her life weren't so dull, but getting trapped in the middle of a centuries-old faerie war isn't exactly what she had in mind...
Light Beneath Ferns by Anne Spollen
This supernatural YA novel is supposed to be a cut above the rest. I haven't read a bad review for it yet, and it am really intrigued to find out what all the fuss is about!
I have this strange sense that my silence is preparing me for something I can't name...
Elizah Rayne is nothing like other fourteen-year-old girls. More interested in bird bones than people, she wraps herself in silence. Trying to escape the shadow of her gambler father, Elizah and her mother move into an old house that borders a cemetery. All her mother wants is for them to have "normal" lives. But that becomes impossible for Elizah when she finds a human jawbone by the river and meets Nathaniel, a strangely hypnotic boy who draws Elizah into his dreamlike and mysterious world.
Only by forgetting everything she knows can Elizah understand the truth about Nathaniel—and discover an unimaginable secret.
I want to read Lament too. I have Ballad but need to get Lament. I've had those 2 on my TBR list ever since I read Shiver. Maggie is an amazing artist.
ReplyDeleteLamant looks very interesting. I love fae stories. I might have to keep my eye out for it. Here's mine.
ReplyDeleteNice books, I didn't really like Lament. Here's mine.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed Shiver, and Lament and Ballad are on my to-read list, too. I had never heard of Light Beneath Ferns, but its intriguing.
